Pavillon temporaire Vasarely

13100 AIX-EN-PROVENCE,
BOUCHES-DU-RHÔNE, FRANCE
2006

From July 20 to October 21, 2006, the Vasarely Foundation charged the architects with the task of paying tribute to Cézanne and prolonging the humanistic commitment of the founder of optical art. A monumental structure is installed in the alley of plane trees leading to the Foundation.

Constructed of cardboard, canvas and aluminum, 9m high with a span of 16m, is a pavilion with a precise formal relationship to the view of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire and the foundation building.

The structure provides shelter for the contemporary “watcher” who wishes to contemplate the motif at the base of the investigation Cezannienne closest to the vision that he had from the family property of Jas de Bouffan.
